Time With WordPress Is Moving S..l..o…w…l…y

It is taking some time for me to learn my way around Word Press. I love all the possibilities it presents, but hate banging my head on the wall when I cannot make those possibilities a reality. I don’t need a designer at this point, what I need is a Word Press guru. Someone who will patiently show me how to do that thing you do in Word Press.
I also need a Blogger to Word Press genius to help me transfer my other blog Live Laugh Love and Bloggings from Blogger to WordPress. I own the domain, I have self hosting, just need to “addon” the account so I am told… but the actual transfer, with all the SEO, backlinks, links, Google Ranking etc… my brain feels like it is going to explode. I want to do it RIGHT — the first time — and I am willing to pay someone to do it — well – for me… just as long as it doesn’t cost me an arm and a leg. The design aspect — I’ll figure out later. I’ll make what I have there work here — somehow….. for now. So if you know of someone who is technical genius who loves this stuff and will take pity on a clueless blogger in NY… let me know… ;)

In the meantime, do you see that header up there — and my PR button and more (it’s just not on here yet) that there is the creative wonder that is Erin Cox… aka/ Mrs. Cox or Slice o’ Heaven (blog). I adore her <3 and she was wonderful to create this for me…. pretty cool right? :)

Welcome! Excuse the Mess….

Okay, so here I am, LiveLaughLoveCj trying something new. I wanted to focus on where I am in my life right now. So much is changing! I am and always will be a Mom, but my “children” are young men and women now, their need for me is very different. Each is beginning on their own personal journey’s in life… it’s time. So, while a few of them are here, at home, pretty much doing their own things, the others are off and running. I have one foot in “Mom” the other in “empty nester/grandma”.

My plan, my mission, is to bring together all the things I love that I am passionate about. MY interests beyond being a “Mom”. Greatest job on the planet and the hardest too… but after 24+ years… it’s time to figure out who I am and all that I want to be in this next chapter in my life.

My passions? Food — I’ve had to learn lots along the way to accommodate the ongoing health issues; in this I know I am not alone. Plus, there is such a simple and wonderful pleasure from such things that tease the palate, entice your senses. *sigh* I know from my other site, you love it too. Never did I see more traffic then when we talked about food, of there was a food review/giveaway. I want to talk recipes, new and fantastic products that I know I love and think you will too. Knitting — I’ve not done nearly as much as I would have liked over the years, so here I am again, a “re-learned” knitter, looking to cast, knit and purl my way through and share with you my adventures and mis-adventures. Welcome to my “Yarn Basket”

Books! Music! TV Shows! Movies! There is nothing like getting lost in a great book. Music is life happening in my ears, one note at a time. TV Shows – they suck me in, they do, and I love to discuss current story lines, new shows and of course my favorites. Movies, well I am a DVD movie hound – collector of all sorts. If I can’t get to a movie theater, you can bet if it peaked my interest I will get it on DVD and watch in the comfort of my own home. I am a BIG on the Academy Awards, Golden Globes, The Grammy’s, MTV Music Award, American Music Awards, Country Music Awards and of course the Primetime Emmy’s. I admit it – I love it all!

As for becoming a first time Nana, I hope to feature “Nana’s Closet” or “Nana’s Toy Chest” or “Nana’s Place”. I place to feature all that is new in the baby, toddler, clothing, toys and everything that goes along with having a baby in the house once again. It’s been a long long time, but I am looking forward to this with all my heart. I will continue to maintain Nana’s Letters (www.nanasletters.com) my ongoing letters to my soon to be born grandchild (November). Welcome to Nana’s Place

So, with this new venture, I have a vision and I want to share it with you.
Sit back grab a cup of coffee, tea, or even a glass of wine and join me.

Oh and don’t mind the “construction” going on around here in the next couple of weeks, as with any new “home” there is always some decorating and fussing to be done. ;)

Books! Movies! Music!

Here I hope to share my love of all things Books! Movies! Music!

MUSIC:

After being inspired by just how unique and fantastic Gavin DeGraw is, he is on my play list at the moment.  Add in some Eminem (yes HIM), Chris Mann, John Mayer, Blake Shelton, Zac Brown Band, Safety Suit, Josh Kelly, Lee DeWyze (American Idol)…. that is a small sampling of what I am listening to at the moment.

BOOKS:

Today I received from its Publisher  ”The Boy Who Came Back From Heaven” to read and  I’ve also received the book  ”Broken Birds, The Story of My Momila” by the author.  I am excited to read both of these, check back for my reviews on these 2 books.

MOVIES:

My list is growing.  I had hoped to go and see “Eat Pray Love” with Julia Roberts this past weekend, I was set to… then this darned bug bit me hard.. real hard and well the last 5 days or so, movies were the last thing I was thinking of.

Also on my list to see:  Inception, Charlie St. Cloud (although I think I will wait for this to go to DVD),  Dinner for Schmucks, The Other Guys,  The Expendables (May take the husband to this one – MAJOR Brownie Points if I do).  Don’t even get me started on what has been released onto DVD!!  I have tons, yes tons and tons of movies on DVD I am a movie going fan, but sometimes, this busy life doesn’t allow me to get to the theaters as I would like, so when it hits DVD – I am going to own it!  My favorite place to keep track of what is what … Moviefone and of course IMDb.

What I Learned at NYC #BlogHer 2010

  • This is a Marathon people… NOT a sprint!!
  • Was worth the price of admission to finally meet some extraordinary women I’ve had the opportunity to call friend for some time now – it was like coming “home”.
  • The Pillsbury Dough Boy is REAL!
  • Sometimes the best gift, is the unexpected one.
  • Swag is nice – It help me put some smiles on some deserving kiddos faces – for that I thank ALL the sponsors
  • Swag is nice – but can be expensive to ship home. As found out by loads of friends.
  • Schick Party was AMAZING!  Great food, drinks and people mix in some fabu live music (like Gavin DeGraw) it is a PAR-TAY!
  • CraziBeautiful is one of my favorite places on the web now – the ladies of CraziBeautiful I <3 New York Party were THE Best! You must check out this great site.
  • Sleep – what is that?
  • NYC +heat warnings+humidity = Misery, Swollen legs and ankles  ;)
  • Whether we arrived at BlogHer alone or within a group — we EACH have a POWERFUL voice — TOGETHER we stand strong, as a community, with much to say in so many ways.
  • Twitter – I love it even more.. there I said it – I do! Hello my name is LiveLaughLoveCj and I am addicted to Twitter — needed to know what was happening in other parts of BlogHer? Twitter was your answer.
  • Pace yourself, hydrate, eat, pace yourself some more.
  • Expo was a great place to talk with the vendors, products, companies, PR that you either “knew” or had the chance to get to know and learn more about what is coming down the road for them. LOVED IT!
  • Slot Machines – like at Egglands Best Eggs – can WIN  – WTG Jenn! ;)
  • I have lots to learn.
  • But I also need to find my own place and voice — my way. I am an individual in a large community of all walks of life… and I need to OWN MY OWN VOICE IN THAT COMMUNITY.
  • In the end, as I look back… what sticks out in my mind is this sense of community.  I didn’t get to meet everyone I had hoped to, but in exchange got to meet equally fascinating and wonderful women I hadn’t expected to.  I sat in the ballroom during lunch one day, and listened, to the sheer volume of all these people talking to one another and it occurred to me, that volume is even greater when it comes to the Blogging world.  No matter what your niche is, your voice has sound as it appears on the world wide web — and we, all of us, in big ways and small are making quite a ruckus — and that indeed is a very good thing.
  • I was blessed, fortunate, grateful and humble by the amount of work that went into putting this event on for ALL of us… to all of those people… THANK YOU!
